7th House: The House of Open Enemies

These are my insights about the 7^th House, the house of open enemies.  You know that saying… You only attract who and what you are on the inside? This house is all about that. You’re so called ‘enemies’ are the only reflection of who you are on the inside. There are a lot of things we can learn from our friends but I believe, there’s so much we can learn about our enemies. The universe works as if it always fills up the void we have inside us. And if we have so many empty spaces inside, nature will not hesitate to fill it up so it can make sure to attain balance.

There are so many people I’ve met in the past whom started as nice acquaintances, then friends, partners and then lo and behold turn out to be a ruthless enemies. All throughout the relationship, we’ve discovered things in each other we don’t like or probably don’t even want to face for some reason. Before we know it, we were cursing each other and avoid one another like a plague. To a mature person who is humble enough to know himself would recognized such pattern and would go inside himself and take that horrible event into an opportunity to grow. But not all of us are in that level of maturity where we can look at ourselves in the mirror where we can truly say, ‘you know what, you have an issue and you need to fix yourself.’ It is easy to pinpoint what is wrong in others and to condemn a person on the other side but to do that to ourselves, well, let’s just say it’s not a walk in the park. 

We outgrow people in our lives as we go on living and perhaps it is safe to say that we also outgrow ourselves, or part of our selves in the process. The problem with the 7^th house is that, although it is the partnership house, it is also a house that we cannot stay for too long. Because it is not the “I,” It is not us. We know that we are taking this journey towards every houses and the 7^th only gives us an opportunity to further grow into a more mature or more beautiful version of ourselves. We can’t go to the 8^th house, where we will be transformed if we do not do the right thing in the 7^th house. In the house of partnership, we see ourselves against the other. ‘that’s you, that’s not me.’ Here we separate ourselves so we can have an even stronger core when we reach the collective which 9^th, 10, and 11^th houses offer.

What we do in the face of our enemy depends on the level of our maturity, of course.  A person with a scorpio in 7^th house cusps could destroy his enemies if he wants to. But an evolved or mature scorpio will choose healing, instead of destruction in order to get past of that version of himself that is not truly his. If we do not know how to handle the 7^th house energy and how to outgrow that shadow part of ourselves, then we get stuck to our shadows repeating the same mistakes of what we did in the past. That is the lesson of the 7^th house. That’s why a divorce can be very nasty. Imagine two people trying to battle each other by exposing each other’s shadows. In the 7^th house or the house of marriage and partnership, we come face to face with our shadows and if we do not know how “not” to be our shadow, then everyone we come across on a partnership level would represent that shadow.

The thing about us, people or individuals, there’s so much going inside us that we sometimes don’t even realize. Each part of our personalities is tested through time and each passing we learn, we grow and we become better. We create better versions of ourselves as we grow older. We don’t stop evolving, or growing just because we’ve settled down, got married or have kids. For me, the journey of life only starts once you find that person whom you consider an equal. And the 7^th house can show that. If we have a ‘clean’ and ‘mature’ 7^th house, then all our partnerships including our marriage will be very rewarding. It is how we handle our shadows that define who we are on a one on one relationship because it is all about ‘us’ already, and not I alone.
